Call Coach Harvey at 805-383-2303 for details on making the 2010 girls tennis team at Newbury Park High School. 

All girls wishing to tryout for the 2010 fall season must contact coach Harvey asap as tryouts will be based on an ongoing challenge ladder. The ladder will start March 15, 2010 and run until August 2010. The top 24 girls at the cutoff date in August will make the team. Seniors need to finish in the top 12. Call coach Harvey for your placement on the ladder and the rules. There will also be a doubles ladders starting May 1, 2010.

This program is designed for the serious tennis player wishing to improve. Combined with tournaments and clinics, the players fully engaged in the off-season can expect to be match tough by Sept. 2010 (the beginning of next season) and have a fulfilling high school experience as well as success in their tournaments.

It is important for all girls wishing to play tennis at the high school level to gain tournament experience. The Ventura County Junior Tennis Association hosts many tournaments throughout the year. Visit their website at http://www.vcjta.com and get started with novice and later open tournaments. You can now join the VCJTA and enter the tournaments online.

With some success at the VCJTA tournaments, you can start to enter sectional tournaments throughout Southern California by first joining the USTA and visiting http://www.scta.usta.com to enter first novice then satellite events and eventually graduating into the open events where you can earn a ranking.

There are several good junior tennis clinics available in the Conejo Valley. Craig Heinberg's clinic at Agoura High School M-W-F 5:00-6:30 pm.Top Seed Tennis Academy at North Ranch Country Club, Pacific Tennis Club in Westlake Village, Westlake Tennis & Swim Club also in Westlake Village,and Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks all have programs during the off season to help you improve. You do not need to be a member to join these programs.
